Many thanks to the CHS for publishing this, but most of all a huge thank you to Daryll for writing it and to my old friend Bud for taking those pictures. This is the kind of story that needs to be in the Shaker archives and I trust Daryll will see that it is. It is a wonderful recounting that only Darryl could make, and all of us friends of the Shakers and their legacy owe him a great debt of gratitude. Hopefully, he will tell us many more of his memories and share his observations not just about the Shaker physical world, but also about their spiritual world, the essence of the Shakers.
Harry Kinter’s comments are a welcome addition supporting the invaluable legacy that Darryl has created in his writings, as well as the many fascinating and informed presentations he has delivered over many years.
Darryl extolls the true character of what the Shakers lived and taught through their kindness, generosity and the sense of peace which surrounded them and the Village they created.
