In 1943 an accidental fire swept through the historic buildings of town center Canterbury, New Hampshire destroying many and leaving others to bear witness. Hugh Fifield maintained the rural roads in Canterbury, New Hampshire during a time when most lacked pavement and agents made-do with what equipment they had and with “gum and twine”.
