New Exhibit Opening On Fair Day!
We call it “Historical Society Eclectic” and we will be exhibiting a wide variety of items from our Archives not seen in years (if ever) including paintings, Canterbury made objects, poetry, photographs and memorabilia collected over many years, as well as our recently acquired Civil War identification Tags dating from the Civil War dating from 1851. We will even challenge you to a “Name This Object Test”. We look forward to seeing you at the Fair!
New project: Cellar Holes
Many old maps show where once sat numerous farms built in the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, remnants of these long forgotten structures sit enveloped in the woods in the form of rock wall foundations that scatter the 44 square miles of our town. The object of this project is to record the stories of the farmers and their families who built their homes and farmed, worked, and lived in Canterbury. Read more about this project by clicking here.
