Tricentennial Commemorative / Challenge Coins

TRICENTENNIAL COMMEMORATIVE / CHALLENGE COIN

Material:  Brass core with antique gold plating
Design:  Vibrant baked enamel detailing on a custom designed 2D relief
Size:  1.75” diameter

The Design: Our Commemorative / Challenge Coin highlights core elements of Canterbury’s past and present, including the Town Seal of Canterbury on the front, plus elements of our agricultural roots (maple tree, sap bucket, stone wall, field, and sheep) on the back. A sample coin will be on display at the Elkins Public Library soon.

Background & History:  Originating in the military, the “challenge coin” has evolved into a time-honored tradition used to recognize membership and/or to commemorate significant milestones, such as our Tricentennial in 2027. These custom-minted coins serve as a lasting remembrance and represent a shared commitment to our Canterbury community.  Small enough to carry in a pocket but significant enough to display on a mantle, each coin represents the longevity and uniqueness of Canterbury.
